The Strategic Marketing & Technology (SMT) function combines CAN's strategic marketing, technology, research & development (R&D), communications, strategic business development (SBD), and strategic accounts management under one function. SMT leverages market and customer insights to drive strategic choice, develop offerings and capabilities, activate the organization and drive business and technology investments to achieve our CAN 2020 goals.
This role reside in the technology space of the SMT function. It enables the regional business within CPN SEA to enhance its commercial growth agenda on species products, concepts and services as part of the overall portfolio that is being offered to our customers. The incumbent will be responsible to:
support the Go-to-Market team with technical expertise to meet or exceed the annual CPN sales and profit targets,
continuously improve technology skills of self and team,
create strong connection with our local customers in the market served,
successfully implement new concepts in the market served
80% Technology Deployment
Acts as primary technical contact for the customer accounts with moderately significant business impact.
Partner with the Commercial teams to acquire new business from potential customers with moderately significant business impact (i.e., participate in visits, interact with technical teams of potential customers).
Identifies solutions to customer requests and ways that CPN can create value for the customer.
With some direction from more senior team members, explores competitor capabilities along with comparisons to CPN capabilities. Reviews with more senior team members to determine gaps and how CPN can best serve the customer
Supports internal Sales/ Commercial Teams for moderately strategic customers by:
o providing product/ application/ ingredient/ processing expertise
o sharing intimate knowledge of the customers’ business strategy and
o providing insight to customer needs and competitor comparisons
Support the systematic roll out of technology developed (product, concept or service launches) according the launch plans for the regional business in close cooperation with the Southeast Asia Strategic Marketing and Technology (SMT) organization, including delivering upon targeted gross margin growth from new initiatives determined in the annual deployment plan of the Regional Technology Application Lead (RTAL).
Roll out training & best practice sharing in the region to make sure all relevant team members have the necessary knowledge to successfully position our species portfolio.
As a benchmark we would like this role to spend around 80% of the time customer focused, whether this is side by side working with Commercial Lead or giving support on distance or training and deploying our technology at customers.
20% Technology Development and SEA SMT connect
Understand customer needs, translate them into technology development opportunities and provide input to the Southeast Asia SMT Species team.
Involved in a content driven role within Southeast Asia SMT projects where relevant. Served an active role in best practice sharing within Southeast Asia region by interacting with his/her peers and Southeast Asia Species platform.
Support projects with a regional character on the Regional Technology agenda, but not on Southeast Asia SMT priority list. Southeast Asia SMT will always be informed and kept up to date to insure awareness and possible future leverage.
Broad technology and commercial perspective in Cargill Animal Nutrition’s activities in Asia. Extensive interaction with local, regional and global business units and functions. Formal and on-the-job training for applied nutrition across species and customer segments in the industry.
Minimum Requi r ed Qualifications
Minimum Master degree (or equivalent experience) in animal nutrition or other related study
Strong technology know-how on species
Over 3 years demonstrated expertise in species nutrition and species production with a leading agribusiness based in SEA.
Strong customer focus
Strong experience in the market
Good stakeholder management skills
Fluent in English and the local language for the market served
P r efer r ed Qualifications
Effective communication skills both written and verbal.
Familiar with completed feed formulations and systems
Demonstrated animal production and farm management experience
Demonstrated feed manufacture/processing knowledge
Demonstrated nutritional formulation skillsets
Strong network in the region / country with technology-in-charge for SEA / country
Excellent reputation among peers in the animal nutrition/production Industry
